A Coupled CFD/Trim Analysis of Coaxial Rotors

A numerical simulation method of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) coupling with a trim analysis for coaxial rotor systems is described in this paper. The implemented using rotorcraft flow solver, rFlow3D. Six target forces and moments, which are the thrust system, rolling pitching moments each upper lower rotor, torque balance yaw control, considered as conditions. blade pitch angles both rotors adjusted to satisfy conditions through by being loosely coupled CFD solver. Verification validation prediction accuracy aerodynamic performance performed based on previous experimental studies hover forward flight lift-offset It shown that predicted performances torque-balanced excellent agreement data. also verified simulated established analysis. Furthermore, reasonable agreements other results indicated.
